Introduction
The societal added value of public real estate is of great interest to society and politicians. Governments own a large and diverse portfolio of real estate. By deploying real estate and land smartly, a contribution can be made to various policy objectives and societal challenges.
Are you involved in the purchase, sale, development, and management of government real estate properties or land? This course provides you with up-to-date knowledge, insight, and skills to expand your familiar approach with methods and techniques for determining and achieving societal impact, in addition to economic value and value for users.

In collaboration with the Dutch Government Real Estate Council, the Social Impact of Real Estate Choices training program has been developed for real estate professionals who deal with social issues in public real estate.

Participating organizations manage government real estate or land, such as Staatsbosbeheer (the Dutch Forestry Commission), Centraal Orgaan Opvang Asielzoekers (the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers), the Ministry of Defense, Rijksvastgoedbedrijf (the Central Government Real Estate Agency), Rijkswaterstaat (the Department of Waterways and Public Works), the National Police, Prorail (the Dutch Railways), provinces, and municipalities.

You start with an online kick-off in which you determine your personal learning goals. You then go through four thematic days: from sustainable leadership and understanding social value to collaborating on concrete issues and developing insight into your own role. Between sessions, you will work on practical cases from your own work environment, supported by a buddy system. The training concludes with a reflective closing session in which you translate your lessons learned into a personal action plan.
