Introduction
The Dutch healthcare sector faces unprecedented challenges: an aging population, staff shortages, rising costs, and increasing complexity. At the same time, the bar is higher than ever: better care, at lower costs, with healthier populations and satisfied professionals – the core of the Quadruple Aim. As a leader, how do you ensure that your organization remains agile and relevant in this dynamic playing field?
In the Advanced Program Leadership and Governance in Healthcare, you will explore the key role of leadership and governance in realizing future-proof healthcare. You will delve into themes such as culture, supervision, trust, ethics, and change management – with an eye for the strategic challenges. Personal leadership is a common thread throughout the program: through classroom sessions and individual coaching, you will work specifically on your values, self-insight, and effectiveness. Based on the conviction that leading others begins with leading yourself, you will develop a clear picture of what is administratively possible within healthcare organizations and what your role as a leader can be in this regard.
Participation in this program means that you will complete one of the four modules of the TIAS Executive Master of Health Administration program in its entirety. You will learn and discuss at the master's level and work together with experienced managers, executives, and professionals from the healthcare sector who are enrolled in the full master's program.

About this program
Program content
In this program, you will delve into all aspects of leadership, management, and governance specifically focused on healthcare and translate this into the practice of your own (healthcare) organization. You will focus on responsible leadership and explore how you can increase the social relevance of your organization. You will also consider trust, ethical conduct, organizational culture, and collaboration.
Because leading yourself comes before leading others, you will work intensively on personal leadership in classrooms, working groups, and individual coaching sessions. You will gain the confidence to directly apply new insights from scientific concepts and models in your own healthcare organization.
Program structure
The advanced program has a blended design. The online component is partly classroom-based and partly individual, at a time of your choosing. The offline component consists of three 2-day interactive lecture blocks at TIAS Utrecht. In addition, you will have two individual coaching sessions on personal leadership.
This design ensures an optimal learning environment and high learning efficiency. Starting with the joint online kick-off session, everyone will be given the tools to engage in high-level discussions with each other during the lectures. These discussions will contribute to inspiration for future-proof solutions that your organization needs to remain agile and relevant in a dynamic healthcare sector.
Time investment and certificate
The program duration is five months: three two-day lecture blocks on location and two months of preparation for assessment. The study load is 12-15 hours per week. Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate of participation that can ultimately count toward an Executive Master of Health Administration degree, provided you complete all four standalone advanced programs based on the modules of this master's program and complete your graduation assignment.
